Recording underwater
Underwater Recording Systems include a hydrophone and a digital recorder.
Autonomous, Computer-based, and Portable recording systems are available.
The portable SQ26-MT is the most compact underwater recording system that exists.
Portable recording
Model SQ26-MT-EU
The SQ26-MT-EU underwater recording system consists of the Sensor Technology SQ26-08 hydrophone and the new M-Audio MicroTrack II solid state digital recorder, a 4GB compact flash memory card (supports up to 64GB CF, please check m-audio website for compatibility or write to us).
An additional portable battery pack to provide up to 10 hours of continuous recording time, a 12V USB power adapter to charge the MicroTrack's battery while in the field.
In this underwater recording system the hydrophone is powered by the MicroTrack's plug-in power microphone jack.
It will record sounds up to 40kHz, which is more than twice as high as humans can detect. The SQ26-MT-EU is probably the most compact underwater recording system that exists.
The splashproof plastic case is not included, in Europe, in the standard configuration.
Model C55-E44-EU

This underwater recording system consists of the Cetacean Research™ C55 hydrophone and the Edirol R-44 digital recorder. This professional, portable, 4-channel system features sample rates up to 96Hz at 24-bit resolution. Files are recorded directly to a SDHC / SD memory card on the R-44, allowing very long recording time, depending on the size and quantity of the SDHC / SD memory cards on hand.
Model C55-F2-EU

This underwater recording system consists of the Cetacean Research™ C55 hydrophone and the Fostex FR-2 digital recorder. This professional system features a sample rate of 192kHz at 24-bit resolution! Files are recorded directly to Compact Flash memory on the FR-2. The files can be transferred to your computer directly or via USB for analysis .
As an alternative recorder we offer the Fostex FR-2LE (sampling at 96kHz),

or the excellent TASCAM HD-P2, also featuring a sampling rate of 192kHz.

Computer based recording
All our hydrophones can be connected to a computer for laptop recording, using a quality audio interface. Today there are plenty of audio interfaces, available at your local computer shop. We do have tested many of them and are happy to offer some special interfaces at a competitive price.
Some examples? E-MU USB boards, with a 96kHz stereo bandwidth and standard interface, TC Electronics firewire interfaces, sturdy and with fantastic frequency response.
It is a hard world for computer people out there. Things keep on evolving too rapidly, but please write us a note if you are interested in computer recording.
Autonomous recording
RASP is the NAUTA underwater programmable autonomous recorder.
Two other systems are also offered, both manufactured in the US by Cetacean Research Technology.
