Marine and Riverine Litter
JunkTrack: tracking and modeling free-floating litter
JunkTrack allows you to monitor the movement of free-floating plastic waste in rivers, lakes and seas. Small GPS tracking devices, set into waterproof containers, simulate and report about the behavior of litter in water.
The trackers are equipped with long-life batteries (years) and send their position every day to a map server.
A central server collects and organizes received data and graphically displays the path of the free-floating litter over time.
JunkTrack is a project developed by NAUTA scientific with NaturalGIS (www.naturalgis.pt).
